About us

Prevent Child Abuse Georgia is a statewide affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse America, with the mission to prevent the abuse and neglect of Georgia’s children through education, advocacy, and promoting evidence-based prevention strategies. With the support of more than 35 councils throughout the state, we envision a Georgia where all children and families thrive in safe, stable, nurturing relationships and environments. PCA Georgia is housed at Georgia State University and is a vital unit of the Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development in the School of Public Health.

Join professionals from across the state at the Hilton Peachtree City Conference Center for the 2024 Georgia Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect. This year’s conference features innovative workshops regarding prevention, intervention, and treatment of children and families impacted by child maltreatment. It is proudly hosted by PCA Georgia, the Stephanie V. Blank Center for Safe and Healthy Children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and the Georgia Center for Child Advocacy. The theme for the 2024 conference is Lean on Me. The Lean on Me theme reflects a movement away from family surveillance toward a culture of support that values and uplifts people raising children. The need for caregivers to be supported is universal. Systems, communities, and individuals can proactively respond to strengthen families by building protective factors and being a resource for caregivers to lean on. CEUs requested include a maximum of six hours for the following disciplines: nursing, social work, LPC, LMFT, and law enforcement. Registration, networking, breakfast, and exhibit tables OPEN at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11.   • ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ᴀʀᴇ ᴛʜᴇʏ ɴᴏᴡ? ᴀ ꜱᴇʀɪᴇꜱ ꜰᴇᴀᴛᴜʀɪɴɢ ꜰᴏʀᴍᴇʀ ᴘᴄᴀ ɢᴇᴏʀɢɪᴀ ɢʀᴀꜱ/ɪɴᴛᴇʀɴꜱ 🔷 Clarissa Seay PCA Practicum Student and Student Assistant 2020-22 Executive Assistant Multi-Agency Alliance for Children 1. ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ᴅᴏ ʏᴏᴜ ᴄᴜʀʀᴇɴᴛʟʏ ᴡᴏʀᴋ, ᴀɴᴅ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ɪꜱ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴊᴏʙ ᴛɪᴛʟᴇ? I am an executive assistant and IT liaison at the Multi-Agency Alliance for Children (MAAC). 2. ᴅᴇꜱᴄʀɪʙᴇ ʏᴏᴜʀ ʀᴏʟᴇ. In my current role, I work directly with the company's CEO to ensure the business runs smoothly. I also troubleshoot our network and information technology systems as needed. 3. ʜᴏᴡ ᴅɪᴅ ᴘᴄᴀ ɢᴇᴏʀɢɪᴀ ᴘʀᴇᴘᴀʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ ᴀ ᴘʀᴏꜰᴇꜱꜱɪᴏɴᴀʟ ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ꜰɪᴇʟᴅ? PCA gave me the passion to work for and with children in foster care and taught me how to communicate with stakeholders in the community to serve youth better. 4. ᴡʜᴀᴛ ɪꜱ ᴀ ꜰᴀᴠᴏʀɪᴛᴇ ᴍᴇᴍᴏʀʏ ᴏꜰ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴛɪᴍᴇ ᴀᴛ ᴘᴄᴀ ɢᴇᴏʀɢɪᴀ? I enjoyed preparing for and participating in Prevent Child Abuse Month every April and all the events surrounding it, especially making the pinwheel. 5. ᴡʜᴀᴛ ᴅɪᴅ ʙᴇɪɴɢ ᴀ ꜱᴛᴜᴅᴇɴᴛ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴘᴄᴀ ɢᴇᴏʀɢɪᴀ ᴍᴇᴀɴ ᴛᴏ ʏᴏᴜ? Working with PCA opened many doors, and I'm very grateful. I learned much about the child welfare system and the resources available to youth and families.

  • Sign up for the Helping Parents Build Social Connections training, set for 10 a.m. on June 20. This Strengthening Families Georgia workshop will provide family-serving programs with practical everyday ideas based on sound research to strengthen families through Protective Factors and social connections. Participants will: o Identify key elements of social connections and discuss with a partner some social connections they have in their own life. o Examine information about social connections and discuss what their programs can do to build social connections. o Discuss the impact of social connections in a good and a not-so-good situation in their lives.
