We’re thrilled to announce our first documentary, “Me Period”! At our recent premiere in Atlanta, we screened the film, which explores discussions on puberty and menstruation featuring everyday families, and includes cameos from Sheryl Lee Ralph, Tabitha Brown, and their daughters. Post-screening, a live panel discussion was hosted by Egypt Sherrod, featuring Charis Chambers, MD, the films director Lisa Cunningham, and BWHI President Linda Goler Blount, MPH. The session prompted the audience to share personal stories, highlighting the film’s influence on promoting open and crucial health conversations. We’re also excited to announce that “Me Period” has been selected for the Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival and Essence Film Festival! Last night, Authentique Agency executed the premiere of Me Period, a documentary sparking crucial dialogue on adolescence and the experience of navigating one’s first period. This event was more than a screening—it was an interactive experience and intergenerational conversation that I personally will never forget. Today, we’re honored to share a peek into our first-of-a-kind initiative to purchase cotton directly from four minority-owned Alabama family farms. This direct and transparent relationship with our cotton partners eliminates intermediaries, so farmers receive all of the proceeds from their crops which in turn supports their land, livelihoods, families and communities for future generations.
