Nestled between the pristine shores of Lake Lanier and the beautiful North Georgia Mountains, Lanier Technical College is the “go to” training partner for Banks, Barrow, Dawson, Forsyth, Hall, Jackson, and Lumpkin Counties.
Founded in 1964, Lanier Technical College offers over 100 different credit programs in over 50 different areas. Our students excel in programs ranging from Allied Health, Business, Computer Sciences, Professional Services, Public Safety, Technical and Industrial, and College Core. Lanier Tech is home to Georgia’s premier Motorsports Vehicle Technology and Electrical Utility Technology programs. With an overall graduate placement rate of 100% for seven of the last eight years, Lanier Technical College works to assure business, industry, healthcare, and government agencies have the highly skilled workforce needed to continue to fuel the diverse and extremely robust economy of Northeast Georgia.
The Economic Development programs offered at Lanier Technical College are among the premier in the state. Lanier Tech’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center offers companies across the state customized training using the very latest in automated manufacturing technology. Lanier Technical College is also home to Georgia’s only Ammonia Refrigeration Training Program. This program provides training to industrial partners in all fifty states and many foreign countries.
Our Adult Education programs are designed to assist residents of our seven county service area to prepare to earn a high school equivalency credential as well as in English literacy. Working with our area Certified Literate Community Programs and other community leaders, we are proud to offer on-site adult education services in each of the seven counties we serve.
Lanier Technical College has a strong legacy of providing leadership for technical education in Georgia. Our first president, Dr. John Lloyd, was one of the creators of what is now Georgia QuickStart. Our third president, Dr. Ken Breeden was the first Commissioner of what is now the Technical College System of Georgia. Over the last decade, Lanier Technical College has been recognized as Georgia’s Technical College of the Year, had two instructors names as the Georgia Rick Perkins Award of Excellence Instructors of the year, and had two students named as Georgia EAGLE Adult Education Students of the Year. Lanier Technical College is home to the Nathan and Sandra Deal Library. The Deal Library is the first and only gubernatorial library housed on a technical college campus in Georgia.
